PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission capable of easily imparting a desired preload.SOLUTION: A continuously variable transmission includes a shaft 60, first and second rotary members 10 and 20, a sun roller 30 and a carrier 40, a plurality of planetary balls 50 and iris plates 80 for changing the gear ratio between input-output by tilting respective planetary balls 50. The sun roller 30 has a first rotary body 31 having first contact points P1 where pressing force in the oblique direction to the axial direction and the radial direction mutually acts between the planetary balls 50 and itself, and a second rotary body 32 relatively rotatable to the first rotary body 31 and having second contact points P2 where the pressing force in the oblique direction to the axial direction and the radial direction mutually acts between the planetary balls 50 and itself. The continuously variable transmission includes a member capable of adjusting the relative positional relationship in the axial direction between the first rotary body 31 and the second rotary body 32, that is, an adjusting member 36 for push-moving the first rotary body 31 toward the second rotary body 32 by propulsive force in the axial direction converted from torque in the peripheral direction. |
