PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing supported ruthenium oxide having excellent catalytic activity and a method for producing chlorine by using the supported ruthenium oxide obtained by the method and oxidizing hydrogen chloride by oxygen at a good conversion ratio.SOLUTION: A method for producing a supported ruthenium oxide is characterized in that a carrier is subjected to contact treatment in a solution containing a ruthenium compound, and then the resulting carrier is dried in a gas circulation while agitating the carrier, then the dried carrier is fired in an oxidizing gas atmosphere. The supported ruthenium oxide produced by this production method is used as a catalyst and hydrogen chloride is oxidized by oxygen in the presence of the catalyst to produce chlorine. |
