PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flywheel device capable of storing higher kinetic energy without the need of upsizing its device configuration, and an energy storage device equipped with the flywheel device.SOLUTION: A flywheel device 10 includes: a rotor 14 which stores kinetic energy generated by its rotation; and a rotor retaining mechanism 16 which rotatably supports the rotor 14 on axes of rotation in two directions.
