PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light adjustment device and a projector which suppress heat transmission to a gear and reduces noise when driven.SOLUTION: A light adjustment device 10 includes: a pair of light shielding plates 7 which are provided symmetrically with respect to an illumination optical axis OA of a light beam incident, and which adjust an amount of light to be passed therethrough by shielding the light beam according to an amount of rotation thereof; rotation transmission gears 51 which cause the light shielding plates 7 to rotate by indirectly holding the light shielding plates 7, respectively; and a support substrate 2 on which support shafts 4 for respectively supporting the rotation transmission gears 51 to be rotatable are installed. The light shielding plates 7 are placed on one surface 20A of the support substrate 2. Further, the rotation transmission gears 51 are placed on a surface 20B that is opposite to the surface 20A with the support substrate 2 in between. |
