PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system which would not arouse a doubt on the call originating side due to reduced receivable timing when a portable terminal is executing a power consumption reduction mode in which the timing of reception processing in intermittent receive operations is lessened.SOLUTION: A radio communication system 100 of the present invention includes a control unit 150 which, when a portable terminal 110 is ready to execute a power consumption reduction mode and actually executes the power consumption reduction mode, transmits information including one that the portable terminal 110 executes the power consumption reduction mode to a base station 120. The base station 120 comprises a storage unit 152 which stores therein the information received from the portable terminal 110, and a control unit 170 which, when there is a request for connection to the portable terminal 110, refers to the storage unit 152 to check whether the portable terminal 110 is executing the power consumption reduction mode and, when it is found executing the power consumption reduction mode, notifies the party requesting the connection to that effect. |
