PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance accuracy of color detection employing a reference plate having a white layer, and to stabilize color density of an image to be formed.SOLUTION: A light detection device is configured to comprise: irradiation means for irradiating light; light receiving means for receiving the light irradiated from the irradiation means; a reference plate that guides the light irradiated from the irradiation means to the light receiving means; and control means for controlling a light amount of the light irradiated by the irradiation means by using a light reception result of receiving the light from the irradiation means and via the reference plate. In the reference plate, a reflection part reflecting the light passing through the reference plate is lined in a surface opposite to a reference surface to be irradiated with light from the irradiation means.
