PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device employing an electroluminescent (EL) display panel in which a large screen can be achieved with a simple circuit structure.SOLUTION: An image display device includes an EL display panel in which a plurality of pixel circuits having a driving transistor for supplying current to an organic EL element and a capacitor connected between a gate of the driving transistor and a source thereof are arranged, and is configured to have a writing period of time for supplying a signal voltage to the pixel circuit in accordance with an image signal to charge the capacitor and a light-emitting period of time for supplying current to the organic EL element in accordance with voltage between the gate of the driving transistor and the source thereof to emit light. A voltage decrease amount to be decreased during the writing period thereof is preliminarily added and applied to voltage to be applied to the pixel circuits, and in comparison with voltage to be applied to pixel circuits in a central area of the EL display panel, the voltage decrease amount is set such that voltage to be applied to pixel circuits in a periphery area is larger. |
