PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal piece for regenerative melting which has few impurities and easily melts when remelting, and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: A metal piece 13 for regenerative melting is a chip obtained by cutting a cast plate 11 of a magnesium alloy. Among four end faces, one end face is a cast surface, and remaining three end faces are cut surfaces. An end material 12 is obtained by cutting both edges of the cast plate 11 along the longitudinal direction using a cutter 20 for trimming. Then, the chip is obtained by further cutting the end material 12 to a predetermined length in the direction which intersects the longitudinal direction using a cutter 30 for cutting end materials. Thus, the metal piece 13 for regenerative melting can be produced. |
