PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headrest device that can prevent the distance between the head of an occupant and a headrest from being increased when the head returns to a normal posture even if the headrest is adjusted to a position further backward than the position of a fixed type (being a type of headrest that cannot be adjusted forward or backward), thereby preventing safety from being further impaired than that of the fixed type.SOLUTION: A headrest device for a vehicle seat includes a measuring means that measures a distance between the head of an occupant sitting on a vehicle seat and a headrest and is configured such that the position of the headrest can be automatically adjusted backward so that the measurement distance by the measuring means becomes a target distance. Even if the head of the occupant returns forward when the position of the headrest is automatically adjusted backward, the backward adjustment of the headrest is regulated so as to have a distance that allows the headrest to catch the forwardly returned head of the occupant.
