<p>OF THE DISCLOSUREA data processing apparatus includes first and second information processing apparatuses. The first information processing apparatus has a first power mode and a second power mode in which electric power consumption is smaller than in the first power mode. The second information processing apparatus is capable of communicating with the first information processing apparatus and an external apparatus via a network. Definition information including identification information identifying a packet received via the network and process information indicating a process to be performed on the packet is received at least from one of the first information processing apparatus and the external apparatus. If a packet is received from the external apparatus in the second power mode, the packet is analyzed to identify definition information corresponding to the packet based on the identification information.
