589626 Disclosed is a water wave energy conversion device for generating electricity. The device includes a diaphragm supported by a frame, the frame and diaphragm together defining a cell for fluid. A duct extends from the cell; and a power-take-off device is associated with the duct and arranged to respond to fluctuation of the fluid in the cell and/or duct. The diaphragm is capable of changing shape in response to a change in pressure difference across the diaphragm, the change of shape causing a consequent change in the fluid in the cell, and hence a response in the power-take-off device. At least one edge of the diaphragm being attached to the frame in a S-shaped configuration. At least part of the diaphragm is one edge of the diaphragm, and an opposite edge of the diaphragm is also attached to the support structure along a second line of attachment, which second line of attachment is S-shaped.
