The invention relates to a method for conditioning electrodes (12), in particular electrodes (12) for resistance welding or resistance soldering, comprising the steps of: placing an electrode (12) in an electrode holder (14) of a conditioning device (10); heating the electrode (12) to a predetermined temperature using a heating device (16) of said conditioning device (10); exerting a predetermined force onto an electrode contact surface (24) of the electrode (12) using a force-application device (22) of said conditioning device (10); and controlling the heating device (16) and the force-application device (22) according to a predetermined heat and force cycle using a control device (26) of said conditioning device (10). Moreover, the invention relates to a conditioning device (10) for conditioning electrodes (12), in particular electrodes (12) for resistance welding or resistance soldering.
