PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variant reverse transcriptase capable of efficiently conducting reverse transcription reaction in a temperature condition suppressing the formation of the secondary structure; a nucleic acid thereof; a method for producing the same; a method for reverse transcription; a reverse transcription reaction kit; and a detection kit.SOLUTION: There are provided a variant reverse transcriptase having reverse transcriptase activity, in which an amino acid residue localized in a DNA interaction domain of a wild type reverse transcriptase comprising a specific amino acid sequence is substituted by a positively charged amino acid residue or a nonpolar amino acid residue to have a DNA interaction domain having a larger positive net charge than the DNA interaction domain of the wild type reverse transcriptase; a nucleic acid encoding the same; a method for production; a method for reverse transcription; a reverse transcription kit; and a detection kit.
