PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for tissue connection, which is used for sternum re-approximation.SOLUTION: A needle 110 is formed as a circular split ring with an aperture (or gap) 111, a sharp, pointed end 112 and an opposite blunt (round) end 113. A cylindrical bore aligned axially with respect to the needle 110, is located at the blunt (round) end 113. A flexible leader 136 of a tissue closing suture material is inserted into the blunt (round) end 113 and can be restrained by mechanical engagement, for example mechanical crimping. |
