The method involves initiating a driving maneuver (9) autonomously in a manner perceivable by a driver, and determining reaction of the driver depending on initiation. The driving maneuver is performed in response to the driver's reaction (11). A travel route (7) is determined by a navigation device. A motor car (1) is driven on the travel route by the navigation device lying between an initial location (3) and a destination point (5). An input mode is provided for the driver for preventing or aborting the driving maneuver. An independent claim is also included for a motor car.
