PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of ensuring conduction between an outside electrode and a main metal fitting, in a gas sensor carrying out body earthing.SOLUTION: A gas sensor includes: a sensor element equipped with an outside electrode; a main metal fitting with a part on a tip end side of the sensor element projecting out therefrom; and a protector covering the part on the tip end side of the sensor element. The main metal fitting has a first engaging portion projecting to the inside in a radial direction on an inner wall surface. The protector is formed with a second engaging portion projecting to the outside in the radial direction near a rear end portion, and disposed so as to project out to a tip end side from the inside of the main metal fitting. The sensor element has a third engaging portion provided so as to project out in the radial direction and formed with the outside electrode. In the gas sensor, a conductive shock absorbing member having hardness lower than that of the second engaging portion is disposed so as to be in contact with both of an area of the third engaging portion in which the outside electrode is formed and the second engaging portion. The outside electrode is electrically connected to the main metal fitting through the conductive shock absorbing member and the protector. |
