Orthopedic drill bits and related methods allowing for a cavity to be formed are disclosed. The cavity can be formed in a shape that closely matches a cylindrical shape of many dental implants. In so doing, an implant can securely engage tissue surrounding and forming the cavity, resulting in the ability for the tissue to penetrate and fuse with the implant while also reducing chances of infection and overall recovery time. In addition, a distal end of the orthopedic drill bit can be formed with an obtuse angulation between termini of two or more drill bit flutes; thereby allowing cutting forces to be spread across a large cutting area and reducing wear on the drill bit. Moreover, by spreading the cutting force over a large area, heat generated by the drill bit can be reduced and thus, discomfort experienced by the patient can also be reduced.
|
