<p>Determining the point of cutting an endless, multi-segment rod (8) in a machine for manufacturing multi-segment filters into filter rods (11) used in the tobacco industry for cigarettes where various segments (3) arranged in appropriate order on a tape (1) filled with so similar material that it is not differentiated by a sensor (27) are wrapped into a paper wrapper (4) fed from a bobbin (5) containing a glue path (6) applied through a glue nozzle (7), forming a filter rod (8), and then are divided into filter rods (11) of specific length by means of a cutting head (10), whereas the sensor (27) is situated between a feeding unit (2) and the cutting head (10), consists in applying onto the paper wrapper (4) a marker in the form of at least one broken line (15, 18) the breaks (16 or 19 or 22 or 25) of which are synchronised with the segments (3) situated on the paper wrapper (4), and the cutting point is determined correspondingly to the breaks (16 or 19 or 22 or 29) in the applied marker read out by the sensor (27). The glue path (6) applied through a special glue nozzle (7) in the form of the glue path (15) can have repeatable breaks (16) constituting a marker or the marker can be constituted by a broken glue path (18) applied onto the paper wrapper (4) through the special glue nozzle (17), independently of the standard continuous glue path (6) applied through the glue nozzle (7), whereas the broken glue path (18) can be applied onto the paper wrapper (4) in the form of a dotted line (20) grouped in sections (21) separated by a break (25). The marker can be applied onto the outer surface of the filter rod (8) and constitute a broken line made by means of a special applicator (26) using a substance invisible in the range of visible radiation.</p> |
