PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device that can quickly replace media retained to be removable as necessary.SOLUTION: A recording device includes: a retention part that retains a long sheet-like sheet to be removable; a conveyance part that conveys a sheet supplied from the retention part; a calculation part that calculates a remaining sheet retained by the retention part based on a conveyance amount of a sheet by the conveyance part; a recording head that is freely movable between a recording position where a calculation result obtained by the calculation part can be recorded and a retreat position where the calculation result can not be recorded; and a determination part that determines whether the sheet retained by the retention part can be removed. When a carriage is positioned in the retreat position (Step S1=YES), and record of the calculation result on the sheet is unnecessary (Step S2=YES), it is determined that the sheet is removable, so that the sheet is removable (Step S3). |
