Selective hydroxylation is a crucial reaction in the synthesis of fine chemicals like hydroxylated isoprenoids. The present invention discloses cytochrome P450 BM3 mutants able to perform regio- and stereoselective hydroxylation of alpha- and beta-ionone. Therefore, the present invention relates to isolated polypeptides having oxidative activity and isolated polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides. The invention also relates to nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and host cells comprising the polynucleotides as well as a process for the microbiological hydroxylation of isoprenoids, in particular ionones. |
