摘要 <p>[Problem] To provide a method for treating the end of a catalyst-carrying honeycomb structure in an exhaust gas denitration system, said method being capable of filling minute cracks on the surfaces of catalyst layers and thereby improving the abrasion resistance of the end sufficiently. Incidentally, said minute cracks cause the end to be abraded by solid particles contained in exhaust gas, said solid particles including dust particles, lime ash and so on. [Solution] In a catalyst-carrying honeycomb structure in an exhaust gas denitration system, corrugated and flat inorganic fiber sheets, on which a denitration catalyst is supported as primary allover denitration catalyst layers, are alternately laminated, said denitration catalyst containing a silica sol, titania particles and ammonium metavanadate. This method includes: subjecting the gas-inlet and -outlet side ends, particularly at least the gas-inlet side end, of a denitration catalyst carrying honeycomb structure having primary allover denitration catalyst layers to dipping in a denitration catalyst slurry for end treatment to form a coating layer of the slurry in the end of the honeycomb structure, said denitration catalyst slurry comprising a silica sol, titania or kaolin particles, and ammonium metatungstate; and subjecting the coating layer to drying and then firing to form a secondary end denitration catalyst layer.</p>
