PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a granule treatment apparatus that enables efficient change of a relative position between granules such as catalysts statically stored in a container; and to provide a granule treatment method that treats the granules in the container using the same.SOLUTION: A granule treatment apparatus 10 includes: an inlet passage 17 of fed fluid and an outlet passage 18 of discharge fluid; a granule treatment container 11 that is connected with the inlet passage 17 and the outlet passage 18 and that accommodates a granule layer 13 to touch the inner wall; and a granule retainer 12 that retains the granule layer 13 and in which fluid can pass, the granule treatment apparatus 11 has a horizontal cross section area that increases as it goes toward the upper side at one portion in the vertical direction, and the granule treatment apparatus 10 is characterized by including a driving mechanism 20 making the granule layer 13 go up and down by making the granule retainer 12 go up and down.
