The present invention relates to a cutting insert having cutting blade portions on the intersecting ridge lines of each of two end surfaces opposing each other and a peripheral side surface. Both end surfaces have plane symmetry. On each end surface, the long side and the short side are alternately connected via a raised corner or lowered corner.
