[Problem] To provide a lithium ion secondary cell having good cell properties, and an electrode capable of forming the lithium ion secondary cell. [Solution] An electrode for a lithium ion secondary cell of the present invention is characterized by comprising an electrode mix layer containing scale-like metal oxide particles having a new Mohs hardness of 9.0 or greater, active substance particles capable of adsorbing and releasing Li, and a resin binder. Moreover, this lithium ion secondary cell is characterized in comprising a positive electrode, negative electrode, nonaqueous electrolyte, and separator, and the positive electrode and/or negative electrode are the electrode of this lithium ion secondary cell.
