Peptide probes against the soybean Bowman-Birk Inhibitor (BBI) for use in the detection, separation, or purification of BBI from complex protein mixtures such as soy whey, and as an affinity separation matrix comprising a peptide probe of the invention immobilised to a support such as a magnetic bead, are described.
