Provided is a separation membrane element whereby permeation performance and durability can be enhanced without compromising the characteristics of a separation membrane having excellent separation membrane capability. This separation membrane element (1) is characterized in that two separation membranes (2, 2) form a pair, the permeation sides thereof facing each other with a gap (5) therebetween, a seal part (6) on the peripheral edge of the gap (5) is sealed, and the separation membranes (2, 2) are connected to each other by two or more resin parts (7) located on the inside relative to the seal part (6) on the peripheral edge.
