The arrangement (8) has a half bridge circuit (9) with multiple collective terminals (8a-8c), which are coupled with one of output terminals (1a-1c) of an energy storage device (1). A reference terminal (8d) is coupled with a reference potential rail (4) of the energy storage device. A step-up-chopper (14) is coupled between the half bridge circuit and the reference terminal. The step-up-chopper provides a direct voltage (Uzk) to tapping terminals (8e, 8f) based on a potential between the half bridge circuit and the reference terminal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an electrical drive system (2) a method for producing a direct voltage from an energy storage device.
