SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RETURN ELECTRODE MONITORING A return electrode monitoring ("REM") system (50) is disclosed. The REM system (50) includes o a return electrode pad (6) having a pair of split electrode pads (41,42) and a detection circuit (22) coupled to the pair of split electrode pads(41,42). The detection circuit (22) and the pair of split electrode pads (41,42) are adapted to resonate across a predetermined resonance range. The REM system (50) also includes a controller (24) coupled to the detection circuit (22) and configured to provide a sweeping drive signal to the detection circuit (22) across the resonance s range. The detection circuit (22) generates a drive signal in response to the sweeping drive signal and the controller (24) determines a complex impedance across the at least one pair of split electrode pads (41,42) as a function of the drive signal. to LO c j~co LJij C/) |
