PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-standing walking stick capable of stably supporting a person or an article even in the presence of an obstacle or on a slope.SOLUTION: A stick body 1 is formed of a first shaft 3 having a holding part 2 and a second shaft 4 fitted to the first shaft 3 in a manner freely movable in a prescribed range. Then, a turning plate 10 having a ground contact part 16 is provided freely turnably in one end side of the second shaft 4, with one part of the turning plate 10 extended to the first shaft 3 side to provide an engaging part 10f at the end of the one part. Meantime in the first shaft 3, an engaged part 7 is provided which engages with an engaging part 10f. Then, when the first shaft 3 and the second shaft 4 are raised from the ground surface 20, the engaging part 10f and the engaged part 7 are separated making the turning plate 10 turnable. When the first shaft 3 and the second shaft 4 are lowered to the ground surface 20, after the turning plate 10 is turned in accordance with the condition of the ground surface 20, the engaging part 10f and the engaged part 7 are engaged with each other to prohibit the turning of the turning plate 10. |
