[Class 20 (iii) ] A vehicle window comprises a fixed glass 13 closing the opening in a body panel 11 and a resilient sealing strip 23 adjacent the edges of the glass with parts 25 which are distorted to receive the glass, parts 26, 31 which are distorted to receive the edges of the opening, and a flexible curved flange 31 adapted to engage at its outer tip 32 against the fabric 22 of the roof lining when this is inserted between the sealing strip and the edges of the opening so as to keep the fabric taut. The panel 11 is bent to form walls 14, 15 to which a window frame 16 is secured, and the fabric 22 is cemented to the parts 15, 16. The portion 26 of the sealing strip seats against the walls 14, 15 while the flange 31 engages the fabric, and the portion 33 is hinged about the neck 34 so that the glass may be inserted from the outside. The ribs 35, 36 improve the grip. A retaining strip 38 secured to the frame by screws 45 serves to compress the strip 23 and improve the seal, and a decorative moulding strip 46, preferably of chromium plated metal engages over the beaded edges 42, 44, to conceal the strip 38. |
