A method for determining the risk of forest destruction of a forest property (100), wherein the forest property (100) comprises at least a first patch (200) and a second patch (200). In the method, forest resource data is collected, for example, by airborne laser scanning, by aerial photography, and/or by observing and entering in a database. In the method, a first risk event is selected to be examined. Furthermore, on the basis of the forest resource data, the risk of forest destruction of the first patch (200) and the risk of forest destruction of the second patch (200) are determined, relating to a selected risk event. Furthermore, the risk of forest destruction of the forest property (100) is determined by applying the risk of forest destruction of the first patch (200) and the risk of forest destruction of the second patch (200).
