A method of registering an account management application 103 to an existing account comprises a new user 102 installing the application 110, 115 and sets a passcode 120 e.g. a five digit code. Registration is requested 125 with a mobile gateway 104 and a unique association e.g. a randomly generated number, between the application and gateway is created 130, stored 135 in database 105 and returned to the device 140, 145 to authenticate communication from the application. An initiation or kick-start code e.g. a, nonce, random word or phrase with a limited lifespan, is generated 130, stored 135, returned 140 and displayed 150. The user passes the initiation code 155 to an administrator 101 e.g. orally and in person to a finance officer of a business, who verifies the request 160 and transmits 165 the code, digital signature read from a smartcard and mobile telephone number of the new user to account portal 160. The portal verifies the request 170 and transmits an instruction including the initiation code 175 to trigger registration 180-195. A verification code is sent 199 to the user e.g. by SMS which can be used to activate the account. |
