Provided is a system and method for calculating intake air parameters with high accuracy for an internal combustion engine that is provided with an intake air throttle. The system (1) for calculating intake air parameters includes an ECU (2). The ECU (2) calculates an error (KTHERRCOR) by an error model equation (8) (step 2), calculates a correction factor (KTHCOR) as the reciprocal of the sum of the error (KTHERRCOR) and a value of 1 (step 3), and employs the correction factor (KTHCOR) to correct the base amount of drawn air (GAIRTHN) determined by Equation (11), thereby calculating the amount of drawn air (GAIRTH) (step 6). The model parameter (A) of the error model equation (8) is calculated by evenly-weighted on-board identification computing using Equations (14-18) (steps 48 to 53).
