A method and a system for providing a location-based advertisement service utilizing an MMS(Multimedia Messaging Service) are provided to transmit the MMS including a banner image of an advertiser related to a predetermined location when a user terminal is located in the location. A transmitting mobile terminal transmits an MMS message including a special number, a mobile number of a receiver, and message contents. An MMS server(130) receives an address of a receiver from a location server by extracting the special number and the receiver mobile number from the received MMS message, receives a banner image corresponding to the address to an AD server(170) by using the address, reconfigures the MMS message by adding the banner image to the MMS message, and requests an SMS(Short Message Service) server(180) to transmit an invoke MMS. A location server(140) receives a cell ID of an MMS receiver from a cell ID server(150) by an address request of the MMS server and transmits the address received from an address server(160) to the MMS server by using the cell ID of the MMS receiver. A receiver mobile terminal downloads/displays the MMS message including the location-based banner image by connecting to the MMS server after reception of the invoke SMS. |
