A mobile Internet access method using profile setup information and a system thereof are provided to omit negotiation for functions defined in a mobile WiMAX(World Interoperability for Microwave Access) profile when the profile is supported, thereby shortening initial access time as efficiently operating radio resources. A DCD(Downlink Channel Description) message including a particular communication standard of profile information is transmitted to an MS(Mobile Station) from a BS(Base Station)(S101). The MS decides whether the particular communication standard is supported(S105). If so, the MS transmits an RNG-REQ(Ranging Request) message including an MAC(Medium Access Control)-version encoding value to the BS(S107). The BS transmits an RNG-RSP(Response) message including MAC address information of the MS to the MS(S109). A profile corresponding to the particular communication standard is set between the MS and the BS(S111). |
