A colorless and transparent polyimide resin is provided to realize excellent heat resistance, mechanical properties, flame resistance and chemical resistance and a low dielectric constant, so that the polyimide resin is used in various applications including coating, molding and composite materials. A colorless and transparent polyimide resin comprises repeating units represented by the following formula 1, wherein the formula (R1) represents the formula (a); the formula (R2) is selected from the group consisting of the formulas (b), (c), (d) and (f); and the formula (R3) is selected from the group consisting of the formulas (g), (h), (i) and (j), and has a number average molecular weight of 4,000-200,000. The polyimide resin is obtained by the method comprising the steps of: reacting a diamine compound with a dianhydride compound in an organic solvent to provide a polyamic acid solution; and imidizing the polyamic acid solution. |
