A method and device for generating a captured image from display windows displayed on a screen are provided. The method includes determining at least one first display window to be captured from among one or more display windows displayed on a screen, capturing data displayed within the first display window based on a user input to generate a captured image, and displaying the captured image such that it overlaps the first display window.
