The device (1) has a guide element arranged on a floor below a sliding door and engaging into a groove at a lower edge of the door. A roller (7) is rotatably mounted at the guide element on a vertical axle (5). A radius of the roller is resiliently changed based on radial forces. The roller is made of elastic material. Fixed guide jaws (13) are arrange lateral to the roller such that a periphery of the roller overlaps the jaws in a right angle to a moving direction of the door. A diameter of the roller is smaller than a width of the groove.
