The invention relates to a method for unlocking an operating device of a traction vehicle for the operation transition state from deceleration to acceleration, the device being provided with an operating lever. In order to be able to carry out such a method in an ergonomically favorable manner, according to the invention the speed of the rail vehicle is measured and the operating device is unlocked when the speed of the rail vehicle is not equal to zero. The invention further relates to an unlocking unit for an operating device of a traction vehicle, the device being provided with an operating lever (1).
