PURPOSE: Device and method setting up an email account in a portable terminal are provided to configure an email account without inputting by a user by using prestored account configuration information. CONSTITUTION: A memory unit (Z07) stores account configuration information showing information related to an email account configuration. A control unit (Z01) configures an email account without input of a user using the account configuration information. The account configuration information includes more than one email address corresponding to the portable terminal, a password corresponding to the email address, a mail server providing the email address and internet protocol information for configuring the account.
