683,124. Light diffusing screens for lamps. FRANCO-BRITISH ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. May 16, 1950 [June 7, 1949; Sept. 13, 1949; Sept. 16, 1949; Oct. 14, 1949], Nos. 15139/49, 23642/49, 23942/49 and 26452/49. Class 75(iv) A light-diffusing screen particularly for use in conjunction with luminescent electric discharge tubes has a cellular construction comprising intersecting strips of light transmitting material having panels 1, Fig. 1, rendered translucent, the narrow zones 2 between the panels 1 each having a slot 3 extending from the same longitudinal edge to the central longitudinal axis of the strip, the slots of the two sets A, B, Fig. 5, being entered one into the other. The strips may be of moulded plastic material and the translucent panels 1 formed by producing pyramidal or other projections or depressions, or flutings, on one surface of each strip. The ends of each strip have rabbets 4 which, when strips are joined end to end, are overlapped so that slots 5 therein are aligned, the joint being completed when a transverse strip is placed in the slot 5. Adhesive may, if desired, be applied between the rabbets 4. The strip may be of arcuate form for building a screen of semi-cylindrical form. Alternatively a screen may be built of strips as shown in Fig. 1 in engagement with strips having inclined slots. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 669,993 and 681,706. |
