APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR OBJECT TRACKING

PURPOSE: An object tracking apparatus and method are provided to improve the accuracy of tracking even if the size or angle of an object is changed or the background change of a template area is generated by using a template matching method. CONSTITUTION: An object tracking apparatus comprises an imaging unit (300), an input unit (330), and a region tracking unit (340). The input unit sets a template region containing an object which requires tracking using an image photographed from the imaging unit. The region tracking unit detects the tracking area of the photographed image by comparing a tracking region matching the template region in the photographed image with the template region. If the comparison results are satisfied with preset conditions, the region tracking unit resets the tracking area as a new template area and detects the tracking area using the reset template region.
