PURPOSE: An area detection apparatus and a method thereof are provided to perform pre-treatment process easily, by using a dominant point-based method like speeded up robust feature (SURF). CONSTITUTION: A photographing part (100) photographs an arbitrary target. The photographing part provides the arbitrary target as a photographing image. An input part (130) sets up a template area. The template region includes an object which requires tracking. An area detection part (140) detects a tracking area.
