PURPOSE: A motor-driven compressor is provided to suppress high frequency noise which is transmitted to an outside plate from spreading in the radial and/or circumferential direction of an outside plate by using a stiffener which is protruded in the form of multiple coaxial ribs and/or radial ribs from the outside plate of the front side of a cover housing. CONSTITUTION: A motor-driven compressor includes a drive unit (3), a compression unit (5), and a control unit (7). The drive unit generates rotatory driving power by using the interaction between the stator which is fixed on the inner circumferential surface of a driving unit housing (30) and a rotor which is axial-supported to be rotatable by the driving housing inside the stator. The compression unit makes one end to be connected to the drive unit, and compresses the refrigerant which flows in the drive unit housing by the compressive action of an orbiting scroll rotated by the rotatory drive power and a fixing scroll corresponding to the orbiting scroll inside a compression chamber. The control unit controls the drive unit inside a cover housing (63) by being electrically connected to the stator of the drive unit. The cover housing includes a stiffener (65) which consists of multiple coaxial ribs (67,68) which are protruded while drawing a concentric circle on the center of an outside plate (66).
