A method controlling haptic operation in a mobile terminal by using an optical pointing device is provided to make a user feel a process for moving a pointer with haptics by determining a vibration frequency according to a moving speed of the pointer. An optical pointing device converts movement of a subject into a displacement value, and the optical pointing device transmits the displacement value to a microcomputer. The microcomputer presets a reference displacement value by each level and determines whether the received displacement value is included in one of the preset level. The microcomputer controls a vibration frequency of a vibration motor according to the determined level. The vibration frequency of the motor gets shorter as the level of the displacement value is increased. |
