PURPOSE: An optical bill counter is provided to easily distinguish a sheet of the roll of bills, thereby accurately counting the roll of the bills with a simple optical system. CONSTITUTION: A fixing unit(2) fixes one side for bending a roll of bills based on a support unit(1). A bending unit(3) forms a layer of the roll of the bills based on the support unit. A light emitting unit(4) irradiates light to one side of the roll of the bills. A light receiving unit(5) collects the light which is reflected by the roll of the bills and converts the light into an electric signal. A counter unit(6) counts the roll of the bills by analyzing the light based on the electric signal.
