PURPOSE: A landmark-based POI information providing system and a method thereof are provided to supply a quick service without adding a data processing load and the operation of a service system according to an interesting item and a specific position transmitted from a mobile communication terminal. CONSTITUTION: A transceiving buffer (320) provisionally stores information for communicating with a mobile terminal (200) and a POI subscriber terminal (100). An address converting unit (330) converts address information provided from the mobile terminal into latitude and longitude data or converts the latitude and longitude data into addresses. A distance calculating unit (340) calculates a distance as the latitude and longitude of a landmark corresponding to position information provided from a mobile subscriber and a POI subscriber. A search unit (350) searches a landmark database (360), a subscriber database (370), and a map database (380).
