The method involves providing a combustion chamber (1) having a horizontal axis and a circular section, where the chamber is prolonged by a transport pipe (3) that is mounted on a fixed frame (2). A fuel introduction pipe (4) and a feed screw (7) are mounted to an internal part of the transport pipe. A force generated by a pressure on a piston is transmitted to the screw, where the force is greater than friction force of solid fuel e.g. straw. The screw is translated on the transport pipe until the screw reaches a downstream end position to control rotation of the screw. An independent claim is also included for a device for feeding solid fuel to a combustion chamber of an incinerator and/or heating furnace.
