PURPOSE: A lens for a side-emitting type light emitting diode, a backlight unit, and a display device including the same are provided to reduce manufacturing costs by reducing the whole volume of the lens and to improve light efficiency by considering a light source of the light emitting diode as a surface light source. CONSTITUTION: A lens (10) for a side-emitting type light emitting diode includes a bottom surface (20) with an incident surface (100) to which light emitted from a light emitting diode (11) is transmitted; a top surface (30) totally reflecting the incident light; and a side surface (40) connecting the bottom surface and the top surface and emitting the light to the outside of the lens. The height of the lens is reduced by a center region (112), and the width of the lens is reduced by a peripheral region (114).
