PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a subject to be focused from estimated subjects on a camera side.SOLUTION: A camera 1 images a subject image by an imaging element 102 via an imaging optical system 101. An imaged image signal is acquired by an image acquisition section 103a, and an image processing section 103b converts the image signal into original image data. A subject estimation section 103c estimates a candidate region of the subject to be focused from the original image data. A controller 103 selects the subject to be focused from the candidate region estimated by performing a first focus subject selection section 103d, a second focus subject selection section 103e, and a third focus subject selection section 103f. When the subject to be focused is selected, a focus detection section 103g adjusts a position of a focusing lens included in the imaging optical system 101 and focuses the selected subject. |
